Following the success of the two recent public information days hosted on Wednesday 14th September, 2022 at the Grove Hall, Bonniconlon and on Thursday 15th September 2022 at the Castleconnor Community Centre we are delighted to make available the information shared on the free-standing displays and previous correspondence with the local community. About

Formerly known as Carrowleagh-Kilbride, Mercury has been developing the Firlough Windfarm since 2009.

Planning was awarded by An Bord Plenala in 2013.

Revised planning currently being sought to reduce the number of turbines to a maximum of 13.

The project will connect to the electricity grid network via under-ground cable.

48MW MEC was awarded by EirGrid in ECP-1 during 2018 and a further 27MW was awarded to the project in ECP-2 during 2020.

We acknowledge the local community’s desire to see limited electrical infrastructure erected above ground. See our recent correspondence with EirGrid regarding the North Connacht Project.

December 2021: Mercury announces plans to develop green hydrogen project in West of Ireland

May 2022: Engaged with local community results in re-think of siting of hydrogen project

September 2022: Mercury hosts two public information days in Bonniconlon and Castleconnor attended by more than 100 people, with the overwhelming majority of those in attendance supporting the development
